Founded in 2017 and based in New York, the American company markets new multihulls and also offers electric repowering solutions. Built by Aismar, this new model is aimed primarily at couples who enjoy long-distance cruising at moderate speeds.
The concept is clearly inspired by the Great Loop, the extensive cruising route that follows inland waterways and the eastern coasts of the United States. Measuring approximately 40' (12.2 m) in length with a beam of 18' (5.49 m), the Kochi 40 takes advantage of its shallow draft to access shallow anchorages and inland waterways.
Several electric propulsion configurations are available, ranging from twin 11 kW RimDrive pods to twin 45 kW GreenMarine motors. The advertised cruising speed is 7 knots, with a top speed of between 9 and 15 knots depending on the powertrain. A 10 kW diesel genset can supplement the system for longer passages. The available roof area can accommodate up to 6 kWp of solar panels.
The layout is also worth a closer look. The panoramic saloon combines the galley, a seating area and a central helm station, while a large sliding glass door opens the space onto the cockpit. The two aft platforms provide easy access to the water. The lower deck can accommodate either two cabins and an office or three cabins, with the Owner's cabin located forward. The reversible air-conditioning system operates on 48 V.
Nova Luxe Yachts quotes an estimated build time of 16 months. The builder offers extensive customization of equipment and layouts, with or without a genset.
